Walvis Bay is attracting another major private-sector investment, with Nictus Holdings Group committing more than N$100 million to a two-site development that will bring six of its businesses together in the coastal town.

The project, already under construction, is expected to strengthen the town’s retail, automotive and building-supply offering while creating opportunities for local businesses and workers. The development will accommodate Nictus Mega, Tiger Wheel & Tyre, Auas Motors, TrenTyre, Glasfit and Build It across two locations.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre and Nictus Mega are being developed at the corner of Theo Ben Gurirab Avenue and Circumferential Road, while TrenTyre, Auas Motors, Glasfit and Build It will operate from the corner of Dr Nangolo Mbumba Road and 12th Avenue. Construction began in October 2025, with the project progressing in phases. Nictus Mega and Tiger Wheel & Tyre are expected to open soon, with official launch dates to be announced by the individual businesses.

Nictus Holdings Group said the decision to invest in Walvis Bay reflects confidence in the town and the wider Erongo Region, particularly its strategic importance as one of Namibia’s key port and logistics centres. The Nictus Holdings Group said Walvis Bay’s expanding commercial, residential and industrial activity makes it an important market for its retail, automotive, glass, tyre and building-supply operations.

For residents, the investment promises improved access to services and upgraded facilities, while potentially reducing the need to source certain products and services from outside the region. The economic impact could extend beyond the six businesses themselves. Nictus Holdings Group expects opportunities for local contractors, suppliers, transport operators and service providers, both during construction and once the businesses are fully operational. Employment opportunities could span retail, automotive services, tyre fitment, building supplies, logistics, administration, maintenance and other support functions.

The Nictus Holdings Group said the development forms part of its broader Namibian investment strategy, including strengthening its presence in key regions and investing in its own business premises to support long-term stability, operational control and sustainable growth. While the company continues to evaluate future opportunities, it said no additional major Walvis Bay developments have been announced at this stage.

The Nictus Holdings Group investment adds to the growing wave of private-sector activity along the coast, reinforcing Walvis Bay’s position as a commercial and logistics hub with an increasingly diversified economy. For the coastal community, the N$100-million-plus development means more than new buildings, it brings new services, potential jobs, opportunities for local suppliers and another significant vote of confidence in Walvis Bay’s long-term economic future.
