The Namibian Electronic Sports Association (NESA) has named Team Namibia following the successful conclusion of the 2026 National Esports Qualifiers, with the country’s top gamers now set to compete in the African Regional Qualifiers from 8 August.
The national qualifiers, held between June and July, featured competition in four gaming titles – Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, eFootball and Clash Royale. The tournament combined online qualifying rounds with offline competitions in Windhoek before culminating in a Grand Finals on 25 July. In the Counter-Strike 2 competition, Tokolosie claimed first place ahead of Gate Keepers and Zone Aces, while Oryx Surge topped the Mobile Legends standings, finishing ahead of Anteiku and Zone Synapse.
The eFootball qualifiers saw Divaldo “Nrg Mirries” Tavares and Tommy “King_Ikela” Ikela emerge as standout performers during separate qualifying rounds. Princess “Nellitha” Rooi qualified directly in the women’s category, while Eddie “SIREDDIE” Handjaba won the Clash Royale title.
The Grand Finals served as the final selection event, with athletes assessed on individual performances rather than club results to determine the national team.
The selected Team Namibia squad comprises Alanray “Zef” Miller, Joshua “Turah” van Turah, Talon “Shackles” Izaks, Ilario “NoWher3” Izaks, Hermann “Kazzii” Koch and Ezeé “TheEzZ” Viljoen (Counter-Strike 2); Nico “S0ZN0TS0Z” Stoffberg, Viery “HitmanFN” Haufiku, Christim “The Black Death” Roman, Casey “Peacegraal” van Rooi, Tamarha “SpitFire” van Breda and Jeandre “Deatheater22” Klazen (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang); Divaldo “Nrg Mirries” Tavares (eFootball Open); Princess “Nellitha” Rooi (eFootball Women’s); and Eddie “SIREDDIE” Handjaba (Clash Royale).
Namibia will compete in the Sub-Sahara pool of the African Regional Qualifiers in a single-elimination format. Success at the regional tournament would secure the country’s place at the Global Esports Games in Los Angeles in December. Action gets underway on Saturday, 8 August, with Namibia competing in the Mobile Legends quarter-finals, Counter-Strike 2 opening round and Clash Royale preliminary round. The eFootball competitions follow on Sunday.
NESA President Flip de Bruyn congratulated all competitors, saying the high standard displayed throughout the qualifiers reflects the growth of esports in Namibia.
“Congratulations to every athlete who competed through the qualifiers and at the Grand Finals. The standard was excellent, and these athletes have earned the right to carry Team Namibia into the African Regional Qualifiers,” he said.
