Following reports, including allegations of police officers being involved.in alleged Nampol recruitment scams, the Namibian Police Force’s Head of Public Relations Division, Deputy Commissioner Pretunilla Kauna Shikwambi issued a stern warning yesterday (Thursday).

According to Shikwambi about 40 000 applications were received from applicants across the various regions, and following the initial verification and screening process, each region shortlisted over 200 candidates. These shortlisted candidates are now undergoing further assessments, which include English proficiency assessments, medical examinations, physical fitness assessments, and fingerprint verification. The process is scheduled to conclude on 5 September 2026. Thus far, nothing untoward has been reported since the process commenced on 10 August 2026. Upon the successful completion of these stages, 71 candidates from each region will be selected for recruitment and admission into Police Basic Training, which is scheduled to commence during October 2026.

Deputy Commissioner Shikwambi cautioned all shortlisted candidates to remain vigilant and guard against recruitment scams. “Please be informed that no payment, gift, or any other form of consideration is required at any stage of the recruitment process. This applies even to candidates who may not be successful upon completion of the entire process. No one whatsoever, not even police officers are authorized to solicit money or promise employment in exchange for payment. Such conduct is fraudulent and MUST be reported immediately,” she stated.

Members of the public who has been, or may be, approached with such a request is urged to contact Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, directly or report at the Police Conduct Investigation Directorate at the respective Police Regional Headquarters.
