Water Disruptions Hit DRC and Wagdaar Following Vandalism
Water Disruptions Hit DRC 1

The Municipality of Swakopmund has reported water supply disruptions in parts of the DRC and Wagdaar areas following recent incidents of vandalism and theft at community standpipe water points.

According to the municipality, the affected infrastructure was installed to provide reliable access to water for residents. However, damage caused by theft and vandalism has left several households without consistent supply, directly impacting daily living conditions. Municipal officials have expressed concern over the growing trend, noting that such acts not only destroy essential public infrastructure but also place an additional burden on community members who depend on these shared water sources.

Residents are being urged to take collective responsibility for protecting the facilities and to report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. The municipality emphasised that community cooperation is key to ensuring that vital services remain accessible and functional.
