Namibian Marine Phosphate (Pty) Ltd has been issued an Environmental Clearance Certificate for its proposed Sandpiper Marine Phosphate Project, located within Mining Licence 170 (ML 170) offshore Namibia.
The certificate was issued by the Office of the Environmental Commissioner under Section 37(2) of the Environmental Management Act, Act No. 7 of 2007.
According to the certificate, the clearance was issued on 5 August 2026 and is valid until 5 August 2029. The certificate authorises Namibian Marine Phosphate to undertake the listed activity associated with the proposed Sandpiper Marine Phosphate Project, subject to the conditions attached to the environmental clearance.
The development is linked to Namibia’s offshore mineral resources sector and could have implications for the country’s mining and marine-resource industries.
